The 4th Annual Ashok Memorial Tournament and Fair was a total success. This year saw the most amount of participation compared to previous years. We would like to thank everyone for their support at the cancer fundraiser.

On behalf of the organizers for the Ashok Memorial Tournament, I would like to thank you for your support at the cancer fundraiser. Through your support, we raised over $12,000 towards research for the Canadian Cancer society.

AMF is organizing the 2nd Annual AMT event held at Mackie Park on August 8th, 2009. This year we've got 3 soccer teams; Calgary, Seattle & Vancouver.

On behalf of the organizers for the Ashok Memorial Tournament, I would like to thank you for your support at the cancer fundraiser. Through your support, we raised over $11,000 towards research for the Canadian Cancer society.

Below please find a heartfelt note of gratitude expressed by Ashok’s mother.

“Words fail to express our gratitude to all of you for having made Ashok Memorial Tournament Day (Saturday, July 5th, 2008) a truly memorable and dedicated event. I was really overwhelmed with emotion and touched to the core to see the community stepping in, on such a large scale to bring about awareness, fund raising for cancer research and paying tribute to my son. It is indeed comforting to know that Ashok was so loved. I, on behalf of my family thank all organizers, sponsors, participants and each and every one of you who came from far and near and braved the weather to make it a successful event. Please accept our humble thanks. I don't want to mention names, lest I inadvertently forget some out. I hope you realize that you have all helped to bring some comfort to our grieving hearts. As parents, we are not supposed to outlive our children, no young bride to be a widow and no child to lose a dear sibling. But even as our hearts break, we know that hope lives when people remember. Remembrance is the lasting gift of love and our beloved Ashok will always live in our hearts. Although I wonder "why" at times, I know that my son hasn't died in vain for I believe our awareness campaign will help to save lives in the future. Thank you for volunteering to be blood and bone marrow donors. Please donate blood as often as you can, if you are in good health. One blood donation can help up to 3 patients besides generating fresh marrow and blood for the donor. Thank you all for caring, thank you for being there for us, thank you for supporting the cause with your valuable time, talent and treasure. One again on behalf of my family, I express my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to each and every one of you. God bless and keep you away from harm's way.”

In addition to this outstanding contribution amount we were also able to increase awareness towards bone marrow registration.
